Deborah Sures graduated with a BFA in Interior Design from Parsons School of Design in New York. Her portfolio of projects includes work for business clients such, as Sony Canada in the Toronto area, to residential projects encompassing everything from major home renovations to the refurbishing or colour selection of a single room in a home.

Deborah lived in Ottawa for eighteen years where she designed the renovation of her home, taking a 900 square foot bungalow to a 2600 square foot home. The kitchen is featured in the 1989 issue of Canadian House & Home and the house was a semifinalist in the Ontario Renovation Awards. She now resides in Kelowna, British Columbia where in addition to design consulting she teaches interior design at a local college.

An interest in and her concern about the environment led her to investigate alternative philosophies in addition to her formal training as an Interior Designer. This led to the study of Feng Shui and other eco-related fields.

Feng Shui is built on the theories of Yin and Yang as a means of striving for balance in an environment. Feng Shui is about understanding the rhythms of the universe and the categorization of everything in creation into the Five Elements of metal, water, wood, fire and earth. It is a method of analyzing and modifying the energy of a space. With her extensive training and experience, she incorporates these theories into practical designs for the spaces of her clients.

Deborah has studied extensively with well-known experts. She is certified by The New York School of Feng Shui, where she studied under the tutelage of Roger Green of Australia. She trained with and is certified by Master Raymond Lo of Hong Kong, and has also studied with Professor Cheng from the Architecture Department of South China University of Technology, William Spears of the United States, and Master Peter Leung of Toronto, Canada.

She is committed to ‘green’ building practices and to integrating environmentally responsible design, including incorporating materials and products that are non-toxic, sustainable, and contribute to “healthy buildings”.

Deborah believes that her training in Interior Design is a perfect marriage with the eastern philosophy of Feng Shui. She incorporates her design background with her knowledge of Feng Shui to create environments that are not only visually appealing and functional, but also energetically supportive for her clients.
